What's Really Going On With Rob Kardashian?...

Rob Kardashian in May 2014 (Splash News)

Robert Kardashian is not in a good place.

Kris Jenner's son made headlines over the weekend with an Instagram picture in which he compared sister Kim Kardashian to the "b---h" in Gone Girl. This has been just one instance of his bizarre social media behavior over the last few years. Following the post, the family seemingly brushed it off and attributed it to Rob's "weird humor" and the fact that he's struggling behind closed doors with his weight, but the situation seems more serious.
A source confirms that Rob, 28, is "very depressed."
"He definitely has social anxiety, but it really seems like it's more than that," the insider, who works on Keeping Up With the Kardashians, tells Yahoo. "His family has tried and wants to help him, but those are the people he feels left him behind. It seems like he's then just spiraled into a darker place over the past two years."
Clearly, the Kardashian and Jenners have no problem with being in the spotlight and they have used that to launch many successful business ventures. But when Rob launched his sock line, Arthur George, it wasn't exactly a huge hit.
Not every Kardashian venture has been super successful though," counters our insider. "There have been some that have been bigger hits than others. It seems like he just sort of gave up."
The family's concerns have been documented on their E! reality show, which Rob has mainly been absent from, and it's clear many — particularly Khloé — want to help. But apparently he's not accepting it.
"He's sad, he's bitter, he's single. He is very depressed and has been [for a while]," another insider tells People. "The attitude has always been that when Rob gets his act together, starts working out and loses weight, everything will be good and he will be happy… But behind the weight gain is this very unhealthy mental state that he keeps struggling with."
Rob's weight gain was also why he supposedly skipped Kim and Kanye's wedding last May, but "it's more than just that," Yahoo's source insists. "His family is trying to get him the help he needs."
"He is very against therapy and any kind of rehab," People's insider concurs. "But his family will continue to push for him to get help until he does."
Rob celebrated his birthday last week and received plenty of love on social media from his famous family. Khloé even documented what appeared to be a celebration for him that night, but it's unclear who was in attendance.
Us Weekly alleges that the infamous Gone Girl jab at Kim was because his sister "seems caring in public, but he feels ignored."
“Kim told him he needs to get out of his funk,” the insider told Us Weekly, adding that the post came after Rob filmed a scene with her for KUWTK.

We have yet to see Rob on the latest season, but maybe sometime soon we'll get to hear what's really going on in his own words.
