South African foremost rapper AKA and his girlfriend and South African urban DJ, DJ Zinhle have parted company few weeks after having their first child together.
“After a great deal of thought, reflection and discussion we have decided to end our relationship of three years. We entered our relationship with love and it’s with love and kindness we leave it,” said a joint statement issued by Zinhle Jiyane and AKA, real name Kiernan Forbes.

Their child, Kairo

“We both wish nothing but a great future for each other and remain dear and trusted friends as well as co-parents to our wonderful baby Kairo, whose happiness and well-being remains our number one priority. We both deeply care for each other and remain close friends.” the statement concluded

AKA and Zinhle have asked for privacy on the matter and have said they won’t be giving any interview.

The spilt comes as a shock as AKA paid damages to Zinhle’s family over the weekend. He observed Zulu tradition by paying a cow, goat and cash to the Jiyanes for impregnating Zinhle out of wedlock. Zinhle’s uncle, Mbongeni Jiyane said the family were impressed by AKA and hoped he would consider paying ilobola soon.
